NeuroTech Lab

Focused on point-of-care technologies for brain vitality located at Surrey Memorial Hospital

The ImageTech Lab

The ImageTech Lab under development will be a world-class research imaging facility that will be located adjacent to Medical Imaging at SMH. The ImageTech Lab will represent a huge regional breakthrough success. It brings the best functional imaging capability west of Ontario and rekindles BC’s 20-year track record in world leading neuroimaging commercialization. ImageTech is supported by funding from Western Economic Diversification Canada.

Location

Located in the Surrey Memorial Hospital, the 2500 square foot ImageTech Lab uniquely combines high field 3T MRI with high density 275-channel MEG technology – offering the best possible ability to probe into the working brain in real-time. This will be the first combined MRI/MEG capability in Western Canada.

Embedded Research Labs

It uniquely combines high field 3T MRI with high density 275-channel MEG technology – offering the best possible ability to probe into the working brain in real-time. This will be the first combined MRI/MEG capability in Western Canada. By embedding this infrastructure within the clinical setting, MRI and MEG represents major opportunities to expand diagnostic and treatment monitoring applications.

Clinical Expertise

Clinicians will help guide immediate technology care advances. Embedding these labs in the “backyard” of a high-volume community hospital will make this integrated center unique in Canada and in the world.

Strategic Resources

It engages major industry players in MRI (Phillips Healthcare) and MEG (CTF MISL). A key translational research goal of this work is to find ways to extract the MRI/MEG results into spin-off benefits on mobile devices. Being strategically placed in the growing hub, Innovation Boulevard in the City of Surrey, research and health technology innovation will be on the fast track to successful business, competitive on a global market. In hospitals, space is the single most challenging barrier.
