Over 200 people attended the Innovation Boulevard event ‘The Front and Back-End of Innovation: Competing on the International Stage.’

A key message from the health and industry leaders at the event was that for BC’s health technology sector to thrive, support must extend through the health system where evidence of effectiveness is generated locally, leading to market access and local adoption. A more holistic evaluation framework is needed to show value for money when evaluating new health technologies.

The featured speakers were:

  • The Honourable Amrik Virk, Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizen Services’
  • Dr. Gabe Kalmar, VP Entrepreneurship and Commercialization, Genome BC
  • Neil Fraser, President, Medtronic Canada

The panel session ‘From Inception to Installation: Increasing Technology Innovation in the BC Health System moderated by Dr. Peter Payne CEO, Innovation Boulevard, included four panellists:

  • Heather Davidson, ADM, BC Ministry of Health
  • Dr. Alexandra Greenhill, CEO and Cofounder, myBestHelper  – Former Chief Medical Officer, Medeo
